How to host a meetup
Pick a place, name a time, put it up. That is the whole job.
Place and time
A bar, a taproom, a diner, a park. Nothing needs booking for a small group, but give the venue a heads up if you are expecting more than a dozen, and check they are open that day. Two or three weeks' notice is enough. Say when it ends as well as when it starts.
The listing
Worth saying: where to park, how people will find you, whether there is food, and whether it suits bringing kids or a partner. A contact email or phone number is optional, and plenty of hosts leave it off.
Putting it up
You need an account, which means a working email address. A pseudonym is fine. Fill in the form and one of the admins will approve it, or tell you why it was not approved.
Afterwards
Your account page lists everyone who has RSVP'd, with their email addresses, so you can send word if anything changes. If plans change, tell them early. When you want to run the same thing again, there is a button on that page that carries everything over to a new date.
What we won't post
Meetups organised to confront or intimidate anyone. Commercial pitches and recruitment dressed up as a gathering. Anything at a private home address belonging to someone who hasn't agreed to it. Beyond that we're not fussy.
